1. Child Student Visa

For applicants aged 4 to 17 years old studying at an independent or private school.

Age Differences

• Under 16 years old:
  • Stay permitted up to 6 years or the course length, plus 4 months
  • Not allowed to work
  • Must have care arrangements in the UK and written parental consent
• Ages 16–17:
  • Stay permitted up to 3 years or the course length, plus 4 months
  • May work up to 10 hours per week in term time and full-time in holidays
  • Can apply under either the Child Student or Student Visa route, depending on course type
